Drew Barrymore’s Impossibly Charming Hamptons Estate Hits the Market for $8.5M

There will be one less celebrity in the Hamptons this summer if Drew Barrymore finds a buyer for her ritzy East End place on Long Island.

The 49-year-old host of “The Drew Barrymore Show” just listed the converted barn estate is listed for $8,450,000.

Barrymore, bought the 1.7-acre Sagaponack estate in 2019 for a reported $5.5 million and remodeled the place.

The original barn on the property was built in 1920 and has gone through a number of additions and renovations over the past century. Barrymore’s upgrades might be the least traditional, but they’re certainly the most interesting and stylish.

Seven bedrooms and six baths comprise the home’s 6,850 square feet, spread out between a main house and a one-bedroom, one-bath guest cottage.

The more traditional rooms include a living room with original beams and wood floors, plus built-in bookcases, a brick fireplace, and French doors leading out to the verdant grounds.

But step into the great room, and you’ll find soaring ceilings and cheery sunlight streaming in from the generous windows and French doors.

The family room is separated from the open kitchen and breakfast nook by a double-height open wall made of window frames—such an intriguing way to add interest to a more traditional farmhouse kitchen.

The sun-filled family room also has rough-hewn beams.

The pastel pink study with a sloping ceiling and skylight also seems to be a fun Barrymore flourish.

The bedrooms are spacious, several being en suite. Some have adjoining decks and balconies, the better to enjoy the perfectly manicured grounds. One features black wallpaper with white flowers—another unique touch.

The bathrooms have all been updated, but some of them retain that traditional farmhouse feel.

It could be argued that the outdoor spaces are even more spectacular than the interiors. A pool, pool house, bocce ball court and multiple gathering, lounging, and conversation areas make up the inviting grounds.

There are gardens—vegetable, herb, and flower—as far as the eye can see, and the property is marked by mature-specimen trees and rolling, green lawns.

The property benefits from its proximity to the ocean, less than a mile away.

Barrymore leapt to fame as a child in her breakout role in “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.” Following a highly publicized, troubled childhood, she began starring in a string of movies, mostly romcoms, including “Charlie’s Angels,” “Boys on the Side,” “The Wedding Singer,” “50 First Dates,” and “Never Been Kissed.”

Her television career includes a role in “Grey Gardens,” for which she won a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe Award; a star turn in the Netflix series “Santa Clarita Diet.” In 2020, she found her groove as a daytime talk show host on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

The pool and pool house are big draws for summer guests.
