TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local recovery center is doing its part to clean up graffiti in the community.

On Friday, the Phoenix House of Terre Haute painted over graffiti on the exterior of Glendy’s Uptown Mall.

Deanna Griffin, the Executive Director of Phoenix House, said when going through recovery, service projects like this are a way to right their wrongs and make amends with the community.

“The girls are so willing to serve and give back to the community. They’re excited about it. It’s fun, it’s something to do, it keeps us busy and it just feels good to give back,” Griffin said.

Griffin also noted that if anyone in the community needs service work done, they should reach out to them.
