The “Houston Is Inspired” mural, a colorful work by artist GONZO247 near Market Square Park that has become emblematic of the city and a popular Instagram spot, will be celebrating its 10th anniversary Tuesday at 11 a.m.

The Houston First Corporation is hosting the event that will include Gonzo247 (Mario Figueroa Jr.) and volunteers refreshing the 3300-square-feet mural which was created in 2013.

“The Houston is Inspired mural was a visual game changer for the downtown landscape and signified the turning of a page in the acceptance of graffiti and street art culture on a major scale,” said GONZO247 in a release. “It also helped usher in a new era of blockbuster murals that give the city a little more character.”

“The ‘Houston is Inspired’ mural has become an intrinsic feature of Houston, and witnessing how it continues to resonate, inspire, and build a sense of connectivity for locals and visitors alike is nothing short of amazing,” said Houston First Corporation CEO Michael Heckman in the same release.

The mural is located at 313 Travis in downtown Houston.
