The City has announcing the Niagara Street Phase 5 – Porter to Hampshire – reconstruction meeting will take place this upcoming Wednesday, May 10 at 6 PM. The pending work is part of the Niagara Street Reconstruction/Rehabilitation Project (Niagara Street Now), which continues to transform Niagara Street into a Complete Street.
Currently, reconstruction has yet to be completed on the 4B Phase of the project (Hertel to Ontario), which means that Phase 5 will not be underway until 2024, at the earliest. The community is beyond excited for this project to reach completion, as Niagara Street is not only a vast connector along the water, it also ties in directly with waterfront access points such as Broderick Park and various bike-ped trails.
Community activists such as Barbara Rowe (President, Vision Niagara) and Mary Ann Kedron (Founder and Past President BRRR|Alliance) have been anticipating tomorrow’s meeting, to get a better handle on expectations, timelines, and follow-through on projects that include better signage identifying the parks along Niagara Street and better connectivity to the waterfront as a whole.
The meeting, hosted by the City of Buffalo Department of Public Works and Watts AE, will take place at D’Youville University – 301 Connecticut Street, at the HUB building in room 306. This meeting is open to the public. Parking is available at the facility (enter D-Lot from West Avenue).
