Medellin promoted to partner with SLA Architects

A Wichita Falls architecture group is proud to announce Marcela Medellin’s promotion to partner.

SLA Architects, formerly Secord & Lebow Architects, said Medellin will be joining partners Troy Secord, Craig Hopkins, Danny Richardson Jr., Nichole Schroeder and Nicholas Schreiber.

Medellin is a Wichita Falls native and graduate of Wichita Falls High School. She served in the United States Air Force as an engineering tech for five years. She later graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and then earned her master’s degree from the School of Architecture Planning and Preservation. She became a licensed architect with the state of Maryland in 2015 and then in Texas in 2016. She is also a licensed interior designer.

Medellin joined SLA in 2015 and has completed numerous local projects, including some of the downtown renovations, along with projects for government clients around the country.

She is a member of the Texas Society of Architects, the American Institute of Architects and she has a NCARB certificate. She served as president of the Wichita Falls chapter of the AIA 2019-2020. Medellin has also served on the Landmark Commission and remains involved in several nonprofit organizations.

Medellin lives in Wichita Falls with her son, Elias and daughter, Laina.

SLA was incorporated in 1995 and serves clients from the Midwest all the way to the Eastern region of the United States including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Texas Department of Transportation, USAF, Health and Human Services Commission, Wichita Falls ISD, city of Wichita Falls and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
