Mackenzie Hires Architect Charles “Chuck” Hayward

Mackenzie is pleased to announce the hiring of architect Charles “Chuck” Hayward. Hayward joins the firm’s advanced technology team, which has a long history of design work in the semiconductor industry. Mackenzie’s extensive advanced technology portfolio in the Greater Portland regional area includes everything from feasibility studies to master planning to the design of complex facilities and campuses for semiconductor and associated companies. The team’s strategic growth, exemplified by Hayward’s addition, is a response to the great economic development investment in the national chip design and manufacturing expansion.

Hayward brings 30 years of experience in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry, with the last 15 years focused on the design and delivery of complex semiconductor manufacturing and R&D facilities.

Hayward has worked as a Senior Construction Architect and a design manager for an international semiconductor company based out of San Jose, California, and Hillsboro, Oregon. His career has taken him around the world, and has included the design and construction management of front-end and back-end semiconductor fabrication facilities; campus master planning; and pathfinding of facilities for technologies not yet fully realized.

Bill Bezio, leader of Mackenzie’s Advanced Tech team, says “I’ve enjoyed working with Chuck in different capacities on projects through the years—including across the table—and I’m really excited to have him join our team. He brings a wealth of technical insight and management experience that we are already benefiting from.”

Hayward has a highly technical skillset and a passion for problem solving. In addition to his high-tech expertise, Hayward has also been involved in a diverse range of project types, from memory care facilities and retirement communities to hotel casinos, student housing, and large-scale and small places of worship.
