Large Milwaukee-area commercial real estate firm Wangard Partners names new CEO

Matt Moroney is Wangard Partners Inc.'s new chief executive officer.

One of the Milwaukee area’s largest commercial real estate firms is undergoing a leadership change.

Wangard Partners Inc. has named Matt Moroney, who formerly served as president and chief operating officer, as its chief executive officer.

Stewart Wangard is switching from CEO to board executive chairman of the firm he founded in 1992.

Those changes are part of a long-term succession plan to continue the firm’s growth, said Moroney, who joined Wangard Partners in 2019.

“I am honored to shepherd the firm into a new era while continuing the tradition of exceptional quality service, community building and integrity,” Moroney said.

Moroney plans to focus the firm’s growth on multifamily and industrial development projects throughout Wisconsin, including more projects in Madison. He also plans to grow the firm’s property management operations.

“I have the utmost confidence in Matt, and he is well-positioned to lead Wangard and continue to growour team of talented professionals,” Wangard said. “The success of our company has been and will continue to be the result of an exceptionally talented leadership team and staff.”

Stewart Wangard is transitioning from Wangard Partners Inc.'s chief executive officer to executive board chairman.

Wangard, 67, said he’ll remain active in such areas as strategic planning, project sourcing and critical review. He also will have more time for community involvement.

“The last couple of years have been full-bore,” he said. “It’s time to share the load with others and give them the opportunity.”

Since 2020, Wangard has extended minority ownership of the company to nine employees that comprise the firm’s board, including Moroney, Burton Metz, Kyle Dieringer, Mark Lake, Megan Michuda, Julie Simcock, Landon Wirth, Jamie Wolski and Devon Pittman.

The firm’s projects include Olympia Fields mixed-use development in Oconomowoc, Franklin Corporate Park, and Tivoli Green Apartment Homes in Mount Pleasant.
