The first NFTs in the history of FC Barcelona, ‘In a Way, Immortal’, dedicated to Johan Cruyff, and ‘Empowerment’, dedicated to Alexia Putellas, are now on display in both rooms of the Moco Museum (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) in Barcelona. The institutional vice president of the Barcelona club, Elena Fort, led the opening of the exhibition and emphasized the importance of this type of initiative for the institution. “It’s another example of the club’s dedication to culture, which is one of the things that make us a unique club.”

The two NFTs are part of the ‘Masterpiece’ collection, consisting of ten works that will be unveiled one by one. The well-known museum will showcase these digital art pieces in two of its rooms dedicated to digital art. The exhibition will be open for viewing in Barcelona until June 25 and will soon be available in Amsterdam, as well as in London, where the Moco Museum will open a new branch. ‘Masterpiece, A digital tribute to Johan Cruyff and Alexia Putellas’ is the title of the exhibition that has just opened, and can be visited at the Moco Museum on Montcada Street, 25 in Barcelona.

Among others, former Barça player Jesús Angoy was present; Lionel Logchies and Kim Logchies, co-founders of the Moco Museum; and Birthe Faessen, ‘Chief Exhibition and Collection Officer’ of the Moco Museum, as well as Toni Cruz, a consultant to FC Barcelona in the transformation of Barça Studios, and several artists.

The first NFT (In a Way, Immortal) recreates Johan Cruyff’s iconic moment in his goal against Atlético de Madrid in the 1973-74 La Liga season. And the second masterpiece of the Barça NFT, called Empowerment, depicts Alexia’s performance in the Champions League semi-final against Wolfsburg. Elena Fort highlighted “the importance of Barça’s support for women’s football, another aspect that demonstrates that Barça is more than just a club.”
