Commercial real estate is a captivating and ever-changing industry. From market dynamics to deal cycles and technology evolutions down to regulatory and globalization—those who work in this industry quickly fall in love with the sprints within our business. And at IndyCREW, we’re used to this pace. This tireless commitment to doing our job and doing it well. The essence of our organization can be found in our steadfast commitment to cultivating a space where all women can thrive and succeed—and we share these ethos at every level of our organization.

IndyCREW is the local chapter of CREW Network, a global network that exists to accelerate success for all women in the commercial real estate industry. And this year, IndyCREW is led by President Kristin Hornberger, Marketing Director, Cornerstone Companies, Inc. As Kristin settles into her role, she’s casting a strong vision to move the organization forward in meaningful and measurable ways to make a greater impact on the industry. With a theme of impact for 2024, Kristin is committed to ensuring that at every level of the organization, the impact is both impactful and measurable.

“As I reflect on my journey with IndyCREW, I am struck by the unwavering dedication of our members to advancing women in commercial real estate,” Kristin said. “From the moment I joined in 2019, I was welcomed into a community that not only speaks to my passion for the industry but actively supports and nurtures it. What surprised me most was the depth of passion behind every member—the countless past presidents, committee members, and volunteers—all united in their commitment to driving positive change within our organization and industry.”

IndyCREW’s direct connection with CREW Network serves as the foundation of the organization’s commitment to providing opportunities for growth and development. The partnership ensures that IndyCREW leaders have access to a global community of industry professionals and events—enriching their experiences and broadening their horizons. It’s this exposure to a broader network that ignites a sense of possibility and drives a collective vision for the future. Furthermore, the exposure provides opportunities for advancement which is incredibly powerful for young professionals, especially young women in the CRE industry, to witness.

“One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned during my tenure is the power of strategic planning in aligning our goals and aspirations,” said Kristin. “By focusing on fostering connections, supporting leadership development, and driving future growth, we create a space where women of all levels can thrive and succeed. I am particularly proud of our leadership team—a passionate and dedicated group of individuals whose commitment inspires me every day.”

At the end of Kristin’s term, she’ll pass the baton to President-Elect, Chelsea Leiter Thompson, Vice President of Development at Browning Real Estate Partners. While Kristin’s leadership is building foundational strategies for IndyCREW, Chelsea has plans to make 2025, and the organization’s 25th anniversary, a year-round call to celebrate the many ways that IndyCREW is leading the industry forward.

“Building on Kristin’s sentiments, I am proud to echo our shared commitment to supporting women in commercial real estate and creating opportunities for growth and development,” Chelsea said. “Over the years, our chapter has made significant strides in supporting our leaders through scholarships and opportunities for professional development. I am deeply proud of our chapter’s dedication to empowering women and providing them with the tools they need to succeed—especially when they wouldn’t otherwise have access to those tools.”

Community engagement is a cornerstone of IndyCREW’s mission, and it infiltrates every facet of the organization. Events like the recent Women in Leadership Conference have allowed us to showcase the value of our organization to a broader audience and foster connections within our community. By engaging with our members and the broader community, we can continue to expand our reach and create meaningful opportunities for growth and collaboration.

“Looking ahead, I am filled with excitement about the possibilities that lie ahead for IndyCREW,” shared Chelsea. “With our upcoming 25th anniversary celebration in addition to the various investments we’ve made in mentorship and member development, I am confident that we’ll find innovative ways to continue shaping our leaders and the industry.”

IndyCREW is a testament that when communities come together with a shared purpose and commitment to empowering women, there is no limit to what they can achieve. From members to top leadership, IndyCREW is united in our mission to cultivate a space where all women can succeed—a journey that is as inspiring as it is transformative.
