CHICO, Calif. – The Humboldt Avenue Skate Park was open again today after a three day closure for graffiti removal.

Parks and Facilities Director for the Chico Area Recreation District Scott Schumann tells Action News Now that this closure was to remove profane and threatening messages. CARD has closed the park five times this year for graffiti removal.

Graffiti is allowed in designated areas including the bathroom facilities and the art wall along the back of the park. Schumann says the park is only closed for painting when graffiti is painted on skating surfaces, or when the content is profane or violent.
