NEW YORK (August 7, 2023) – Holland & Knight has strengthened its nationally recognized Real Estate Capital Markets Group with the addition of Partner Alexander Lycoyannis in New York. Mr. Lycoyannis represents owners, developers and landlords in all phases of litigation and appellate matters before the New York City, New York State and federal courts. He was previously a partner with Rosenberg & Estis PC.

The addition of Mr. Lycoyannis follows Holland & Knight’s recruitment of several other real estate attorneys last month, including a team of five attorneys in Boston and two partners in New York.

“In a challenging real estate market, it is crucial that we are able to assist our clients with distressed properties and real estate assets,” said Joe Guay, Holland & Knight’s Real Estate Section leader. “We are confident that Alex’s skill set will benefit those clients and further enhance our real estate dispute offerings, and we are delighted to welcome him to our team.”

Mr. Lycoyannis is one of New York’s go-to practitioners for real estate-related litigation matters. With broad knowledge and experience in a wide range of real estate and complex commercial matters, Mr. Lycoyannis has represented clients ranging from the country’s largest real estate developers to individuals who own a single building. He has successfully litigated disputes arising out of commercial leases and contracts for the purchase and sale of real property; commercial and residential landlord/tenant litigation; rent overcharge claims and other matters relating to New York City rent regulation; applications for Yellowstone and preliminary injunctions; corporate, partnership and limited liability company (LLC) disputes; the New York City Loft Law; brokerage commissions; condominium and cooperative disputes; construction litigation; adjacent landowner disputes; and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and mortgage foreclosures. Additionally, Mr. Lycoyannis is a prominent legal writer and speaker, having been a regular columnist for the New York Law Journal and having also been published in the New York Post, Commercial Observer and Law360, among other publications. He has also testified before the New York State Senate and New York City Council on pending legislation affecting New York real estate.

“I am eager to embark on this new chapter in my career and to join one of the largest real estate practices in New York City – especially during a time of such rapid growth for Holland & Knight across the nation,” said Mr. Lycoyannis. “The firm’s abundant resources will allow me to build upon my practice, and my clients will reap the benefit of the wide range of legal services the firm offers.”

Mr. Lycoyannis received a J.D. degree from Boston University School of Law and a B.A. degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
