Expressions of interest open for city’s largest street art celebration

Expressions of interest are now open for this year’s Big Picture Fest!

Local and emerging artists are encouraged to lodge their applications to participate in the three-day large-scale street art festival which will take over Newcastle in September.

The local artists chosen to participate in the event will get the chance to showcase their work alongside some of the best in the business.

This year the festival will take over a stack of new walls across prominent sites in the city and include a massive opening night party, an exhibition and walking tours.

To mark the launch of Expressions of interest for this year’s festival, Big Picture will host at special exhibition at the renowned local street art gallery, PlayState on Fern.

The show will highlight the work of Goya Torres, who became active in the local street art scene. Goya painted in the 2022 Big Picture Festival and has murals in Toronto and Darby Street. The exhibition opens on 4 May at 6:30 PM and runs to Sunday 5 May until 5 pm.
