Epic $15M Texas Hill County resort with organic farm, 7,000-bottle wine cellar hits the market

A 313-acre ranch that was home to an iconic luxury resort about an hour from Houston has hit the market for $15 million, real estate brokerage Compass said.

For more than 15 years, the lavish resort and ranch, the Inn at Dos Brisas, was an idyllic countryside refuge for city-slickers seeking an escape from Austin or Houston.

The inn, on meandering meadows of the Texas Hill County 72 miles northwest of Houston, featured an upscale restaurant that at one point was the only Forbes five-star dining restaurant in Texas with ingredients from a 42-acre organic farm on the property. The resort offered a plethora of recreational activities across more than 300 acres of pasture, crop and wildlife lands, and a 60,000-square-foot indoor horseback riding arena, one of the largest in Texas.

The owners — Houston investor Doug Bosch and his wife, Jennifer — bought the ranch in 2000 as a family retreat, but they saw its potential and poured millions into turning it into a sprawling grand getaway, according to media reports. Their Relais & Chateaux resort featured five Spanish-style haciendas and four casitas of 800 square feet to 1,795 square feet, according to Compass.

The Inn at Dos Brisas was a sprawling luxury ranch resort that closed during the pandemic. Now the 313-acre property north of Houston is on the market for $15 million with Compass Real Estate.

Each hacienda, totaling 3,000 square feet when including outdoor space, cost at least $1 million to build and features heated plunge pools, private outdoor showers and golf carts. The haciendas and smaller casitas all have guest rooms with king-size beds, original artwork and leather chairs around stone fireplaces, along with French doors opening to private patios, with lounge chairs.

Beyond trails and horseback riding, the property has an infinity pool, tennis courts, a spa, two ponds stocked with large-mouth bass, a 7,000-bottle wine cellar and a rose garden that was often used for weddings and events.

The Inn at Dos Brisas operated from about 2003 until 2020, when the property closed during the coronavirus pandemic, according to Compass. By fall 2021, the property was for sale, station KBTX reported  and in 2022 was listed at $17.5 million, PaperCity Magazine reported.

The property was most recently on the market from April to September 2022, according to Compass.

Now the rnach at 10000 Champion Drive in Washington County is being relisted at a lower price by Compass, which specializes in luxury real estate.

“Dos Brisas is the rare legacy property that offers a world of possibilities — from vacation resort to family compound or even development,” said listing agent Tonya Currie with the Lifestyle Ranch & Home Group at Compass in a statement. “Dos Brisas is a turnkey opportunity for a buyer to escape from Austin or Houston and take full advantage of the coveted farm-to-table lifestyle.”

The ranch could be used for residential or commercial purposes, she said.

The Bosches are selling the ranch because they no longer have the time to manage the property, Currie said.
