DALLAS — A Dallas County inmate is back in custody after he escaped from a work transport vehicle on Wednesday, officials said.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said Carlos Duarte, 31, was working as a trusty when he jumped from a laundry transport vehicle near Interstate 30 and Sylvan Avenue.
A TxDPS helicopter had been assisting in the search for the inmate.
The sheriff’s office said he was found in Garland after police received a call about a person acting erratic at a bus stop. He was arrested around 7 p.m.
Duarte will be charged with escaping while arrested or confined, according to the sheriff’s office.
