Legends of Aria is coming back to life for the third time without the blockchain and NFT shenanigans associated with its second relaunch. Its original developer Citadel Studios is reviving the sandbox MMORPG as Legends of Aria Classic and has just kicked off a surprise open beta test earlier today.
“This event will not only give you an early peek at the classic world of Aria but also serve as a critical stress test for our new server hardware profile,” the studio announced. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for you to dive back into the realms you’ve missed, and experience the classic adventure and chaos anew.”
The weekend playtest will run until 9 p.m. PST on May 7 and all progress will be wiped in preparation for the game’s relaunch on May 9. The latest iteration will feature the same pre-early access ruleset used in 2019 and will require a $9.99 monthly subscription to play with a free month to get players started.
To join the open beta test, simply download and play the game on Steam just as you would any other free game on the platform. Third time’s the charm? We’ll see.
