Meijer Inc.’s Rivertown Market on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit was among Rogvoy’s recent designs.

A metro Detroit architecture firm is under new, out-of-state ownership.

The nearly-century-old Rogvoy Architects PC was acquired by New Jersey-based Colliers Engineering & Design, according to a news release on Monday. The Southfield-based firm has designed several large retail developments around the area, including the Gateway Marketplace project near Woodward Avenue and Eight Mile Road in Detroit, as well as the Village at Bloomfield project in Pontiac and Bloomfield Township.

The firm was also the architect for the smaller Meijer store called Rivertown Market that opened on East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit in late 2021.

“We’re excited to have this opportunity to continue Rogvoy’s legacy of expertise and client relationships while expanding our services and resources,” Mark Drane, principal at Rogvoy Architects, said in the release. “Joining Colliers Engineering & Design is the best next step for our firm and will allow us to maintain our history of outstanding client service.”

An affiliate of the global commercial real estate services firm, Colliers Engineering & Design’s acquisition of Rogvoy establishes the firm’s third office in Michigan, alongside Grand Rapids and Lansing.

Rogvoy employs 11 people, while the Colliers-affiliated architecture firm has over 2,200 employees in over 60 office locations, according to a spokesperson.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, nor were advisers on the deal.

“We look forward to Rogvoy joining our team and are excited about the expertise they bring to the table,” Kevin Haney, president and CEO of Colliers Engineering & Design, said in the release. “We’re thrilled to be working with a firm with their heritage and long-time contributions throughout the Detroit region.”
