Buffalo has just added another significant festival to its line-up of music, art, and cultural festivals. The Old First Ward Arts & Heritage Festival promises to bring out the best in Buffalo, through its immersive art, live music, music workshops, and an arts and crafts vendor village.
Currently, there is call for artists, musicians and vendors for this inaugural event, which will be held September 22-23, 2023. The two-day event will take place on Republic Street between Tennessee Street and Vandalia Street on the following days/times.
- Friday, September 22, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Saturday, September 23, 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The family-friendly, free event is open to all and will include three sections:
Immersive Art & Music Workshops
Event organizers are calling for artists and musicians to create and execute workshops that will run throughout the festival, for participation by attendees at no cost. Detailed plans including all expenses, time and supplies must be provided, with up to $1,500 provided for workshop hosts.
- Immersive Art Schedule: Immersive art will run 5PM-10PM on Friday, September 22 and 12PM-7PM on Saturday, September 23.
- Music Workshops Schedule: Workshops can be drop-in or scheduled, and held Friday, September 22 or Saturday, September 23—or both days.

Vendor Village
Event organizers are calling for arts and crafts vendors to display and sell their work. Approved vendors must bring their own tent and are responsible for displaying their own art. On-site security and overnight security will be provided. Vendor fee is $50 and includes both days of the festival.
- Vendor Village Schedule: On Friday, September 22, set up will take place 3PM-5PM, with tents open between 5PM-10PM. On Saturday, September 23, set up will take place 10AM-12PM, with tents open 12PM-7PM.

Music Stage
Live music will be performed by: Leroy Townes Band, Ten Cent Howl, Brothers Blue, Yellow Jack, Crikwater, Johnny Hart and The Mess, Kickstart Rumble, Uncle Ben’s Remedy, Leah Rankin, and ph. The Old First Ward Arts & Heritage Festival is sponsored by the Assembly Office of Patrick Burke. The festival is an all-weather event, with no rain date planned. Food and beverages will be served.
