EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) – Artists are needed after a local basketball court was resurfaced this week.
On Wednesday, local company Senn Blacktop and the United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley partnered to seal coat the Boyd Park basketball project.
The project was part of promoting United Way’s Day of Caring, which is on Friday.
On Thursday, the Eastside Hill Neighborhood sent a request for local artists to think of potential murals for the court.
One member said nothing is set in stone. They just want to gauge public interest in new art.
City officials said street art is booming across Eau Claire.
“They mentioned the mural and the street art and that’s become very very popular. We’re looking at doing it in our new park, Cannery Park, working with a local artist to do that. They were going to give me a plan and see what their intent was,” said Eau Claire Parks, Forestry, and Cemetery manager Steve Plaza.

In Eau Claire, people can apply to create public street art in the community as long as they include a full site plan of the development and the proposed artwork.
