Ajax Mayor Shaun Collier is decrying the appearance of hateful graffiti in the town.
Not much information has been released, although the graffiti appears to have been antisemitic in nature.
According to the mayor, the graffiti was discovered over the weekend, along Achilles Road.
“Symbols of hate have no place in Ajax,” said Collier on Tuesday. “On behalf of council, I would like to express our disgust and disappointment.”
The incident has been reported to Durham police.
“The month of May is Jewish Heritage Month,” said Collier. “I ask all residents to take this opportunity to remember and celebrate the inspirational role that Jewish Canadians play in Ajax and in communities across Ontario.”
