Surat: The city chapters of The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) and the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) hosted an evening in honour of architectural legend Raj Rewal on Friday. Rewal shared his insights with the design community from the city.
Rewal was accompanied by his wife, Helene. Prominent architects and interior designers from the city were present at the event.
Rewal made a presentation of his works and delved into his design philosophy which was a blend of modernity and tradition. His presentation explored the thought process behind iconic projects like the Hall of Nations and Hall of Industries (1972 International Trade Fair, New Delhi), Parliament Library in New Delhi, Nehru Pavilion at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, and the Asian Games Village in New Delhi, among many others.
During the event three-volume book set chronicling Rewal’s architectural journey was also launched.
The event culminated in the unveiling of the official brochure for the highly anticipated “INFINITY 3: An Building Materials and Interior Products Exhibition,” scheduled in December. The unveiling was jointly conducted by IIA chairman Vijay Chauhan and IIID chairman Sohel Mansur and Rewal.
