Sanda Island, off the coast of the Kintyre Peninsula in Scotland, is on the market for those who always wanted to buy their own island. Buyers can purchase the entire island – and get an extra two smaller islands included in the sale – for £2.5 million.

Real estate agents Knight Agent have listed the entire island for sale in an incredibly unique buyer opportunity. Although the price tag is hefty, the wealthy buyer can enjoy unspoiled views and incredible privacy on the Scottish isle.

The iconic island, which has historical connections to Robert the Bruce and Saint Ninian, includes seven houses, a tavern, a pier, a slipway, and a lochan. The buyer will be able to enjoy their private sandy beach which sits in the main northern bay.

It also features a helipad meaning the super-rich individual who buys the island can easily fly to the remote location.

However, people can also access Sanda by boat on either end of the island.

Whoever ends up buying the island will be able to accommodate up to 26 people between the seven residences.

The houses have all been turned into luxury homes following renovations by the current owners and feature double glazing, new shower rooms, and underfloor heating. Four of the homes are based on the northern end of the island, while another three sit next to the island’s lighthouse on the southern end.

For the price tag, the buyer will also acquire the neighbouring smaller islands of Sheep and Glunimore.

While there are a few other islands for sale off the coast of the UK and Ireland, Sanda covers one of the largest areas. The island extends to a whopping 453.70 acres in total

Wildlife enthusiasts could be among those interested in buying the island, with colonies of Puffin, Storm petrel, Razorbill, Manx shearwater and Kittiwake easily spotted on the island.

Tom Stewart-Moore, from Knight Frank, claims about a dozen islands become available to buy every year in the UK and Ireland.

He said: “It normally creates a lot of buzz. But it takes a lot of effort to see them – it normally involves a plane, a hire car, a private chartered boat or a helicopter.

“Some people want something private, something they might use for a few weeks a year in summer months.”

Cameron Ewer, of Savills estate agents, said buyers are often Americans hoping to connect with Scottish ancestry.
