A second teenage boy was arrested in Anza this week on suspicion of spray-painting hate graffiti at Hamilton School in Anza earlier this month.
The suspect, a 16-year-old from Anza, was arrested at a business in the 57400 block of Mitchell Road on Wednesday, April 19, Lt. Brandi Swan of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said. He was booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of criminal threats of violence, a hate crime and vandalism.
He was being held on $100,000 bail, Swan said.
A third boy was determined to be on the campus, but did not participate in the vandalism, Swan said.
The three boys were seen on surveillance video at the school around 10:25 p.m., April 4, sheriff’s officials said. Two of them spray-painted hateful messages on the campus and in the roadway targeting Jewish people and African Americans, Sgt. Deirdre Vickers said.
The first teenager, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested April 10 in Ventura, officials said.
Hamilton School students were on spring break at the time of the vandalism, but five to 10 students were on campus the following morning for learning purposes, officials said.
