
Publisher, CCO, and superstar artist Jim Lee has been promoted to the president of the DC Comics publishing.
With this promotion, Lee now wears multiple hats at DC Comics. He will be the president, publisher and Chief Creative Officer of DC. This allows Lee the authority to head the various comic book creative teams. Additionally, Lee will determine DC’s brand integration across different mediums.
The History of Jim Lee
Previously, Jim Lee illustrated X-Men at Marvel. However, due to creative control disputes, Lee and other top Marvel artists left the company to found Image Comics. After a wildly successful launch at Image, DC eventually bought his portion of the the company. This allowed DC to use Lee’s artistic talent and his Wildstorm characters. After a string of successful comic runs, like Batman: Hush, Superman: For Tomorrow, and Justice League, DC promoted Lee to Co-Publisher, later sole Publisher. In 2018, DC promoted him to CCO. Lee helped spearhead such publishing initiatives like New 52, Rebirth, and the DC Universe Infinite comics streaming platform.
